Woman Turning Off AlarmDo you ever have difficulty falling asleep? Does it happen frequently? Sleep patterns can quickly become chronic. We need a restful night’s sleep EVERY night to be at our best. You can use Tapping to begin to retrain your mind to sleep through the night.

Here are a couple of additional tips for better sleep:
-Regular sleep hours. Schedule them like you would any other “appointment.”
-Turn off your electronics 30-60 minutes before bedtime. This includes TV, computer, tablet, phone, etc.
-Do a brief meditation just prior to bed time.
-Reduce caffeine intake during the day, and experiment with times (i.e. no caffeine after 10 a.m.) to see what effect it has on you.

-Use this Taping Script when you can’t fall asleep, or if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep. You can do it silently, and you don’t even have to touch the Tapping points (merely imagine touching them). Adapt this script to your own words/feelings/situation. It will help to quiet your mind and relax your body.

Tapping Script to Fall Asleep

Please note: A small percentage of people find Tapping to be stimulating. So Tapping at bedtime, or when you can’t sleep might be counter-productive. If you find this to be true (if the Tapping doesn’t help you fall asleep, but rather, makes you more awake, you can try the “touch-and-hold” technique on the Tapping points. Touch each point and hold your finger(s) there while you say the phrase. You can even imagine touching each point while you say or think the phrases! You don’t need to say these phrases out loud (don’t wake your partner!), and you can adapt them to suit you!

Karate Chop Point:
-ET (Even Though) I’m wide awake, and I want to be sound asleep, ID&CL&AM (I Deeply & Completely Love & Accept Myself)
-ET my mind is swirling with thoughts and worry, ID&CL&AM
-ET I’m thinking about all the things I didn’t do today, or need to do tomorrow, and I really need to get some sleep, ID&CL&AM

Through the Points:
-All these thoughts
-I wish I could quiet my mind
-It’s like there’s a conference going on in my head
-It’s keeping me awake
-I need to go to sleep
-I am so sleepy
-I’d like some peace
-I choose to know that I’ve done all I can for today
-I choose to know that tomorrow will take care of itself tomorrow
-I choose to release all this worry to God (or Universe, or Spirit, or whatever you call yours)
-I choose to find peace right here and now
-I feel my feet and my legs relaxing, as I take a deep breath in and out
-I feel my hips and my stomach relaxing, as I take a deep breath in and out
-I feel my torso and my chest relaxing, as my breathing becomes rhythmic
-I feel my shoulders and my neck relaxing, as I release the tension of the day
-I feel my throat and my jaw relaxing, as I feel Divine Spirit taking charge
-I feel my tongue and cheeks relaxing, as I release any remaining worry
-I feel my forehead and scalp relaxing, as i snuggle into the safety of my wonderful bed
-I choose to sleep deeply and soundly through the night

By now you should be asleep. If not, you can do the routine again, using whatever phrases apply to how you’re feeling.
